Christine Hwang joined the Dallas Symphony in September 2011. She began her musical studies at the age of 5 on the violin. After earning a Bachelor of Music, Summa Cum Laude, in violin performance from Southern Methodist University in 2006, she continued her studies at SMU on full scholarship, receiving an Artist Certificate diploma in viola performance in 2009. Hwang has performed in master classes throughout the country, working with musicians such as Roberto Diaz, Paul Coletti, James Dunham, and Pamela Frank. She has participated in numerous chamber and orchestral festivals where she appeared as both principal violist and soloist with the orchestra. Christine happily resides in her hometown of Richardson with her husband Nicholas Weege.
